I've moved on...
...to a different domain. Why, what were you thinking? The truth is, I just woke up one day and decided it's time for a change—a metamorphosis, if you will; or, in layman's terms, if Britney can shave her head, then maybe so can I? Nevertheless, it's been a rather handsome 10 years of talking to you, and thank you for putting up with all my moodswings and terrible dad jokes. Fear not! The hormonal imbalance and jokes are more terrible on CUBICLE, see you there.

Coat – ASOS White, Bag – Market in Vilnius, Top – Zara, Pants – Gift from the lovely Nadia of FrouFrouu, Shoes – Office

Walked around in the Future Beauty: 30 Years of Japanese Fashion exhibition at the Barbican feeling like my hands were tied behind my back. I had a grand sum of three cameras in my bag with a ‘Photography Not Permitted’ barbed-wire choking my wrists. Boo… Well, since I can’t share the experience I guess I’ll have to exaggerate a little so everyone goes and has a visit: There’s a giant naked lady following you around spraying £20 notes whenever you read the small captions. A strongly recommended visit!

Thank you Leonie for the photos!

  1. Ooooh I’ll do that the next time I make it up to London. I like this casual professiona look you’ve got going on. Especially those Office shoes, which I nearly bought, but didn’t. Alas!

On another note, I can’t believe you ever carry 3 cameras around. Sounds intensely heavy

  2. I definitely have to visit (if only to be disappointed that there is no actual naked lady with wads of £20 notes…too bad cos I’m mighty poor atm) sounds amazing!

    Adore the bag and brogues!

  3. Ooo im going to see this tomorrow, it truly sucks that no photographs are permitted. Should be good though!

  4. I love the neutral palette against the background of the Barbican.

Ah man no photography allowed? I was thinking of going to see the exhibition this Wed…now forget it….I would just buy the sodding postcards from their shop.

  5. Knee

Oh nicely tied, the shoelaces me thinks.

  6. was so excited when i saw those trousers…
scrolled down to see where i can buy them in a copycat fashion…
    oh no they’re a gift!
    :( …
do you know where nadia got them by any chance?!

  7. Saw you from Crystal’s blog; and I’m glad I popped by your blog! Love your style and I’m jealous how you can pull off that super long coat without looking like an old lady!

  25. Beautiful photo’s and even more beautiful outfit!

  26. goodness, don’t you just hate that? when you go to a wonderful exhibition but can’t take pictures? but what makes it even worse is when you see someone taking a picture when they shouldn’t be. that happened to me recently, on my third visit to the v&a diaghilev exhibition (yes, i’ve been four times. the joys of being a member, i can pop in and out when i want) and i saw someone taking a picture of the picasso le train bleu wall hanging. i was so angry. pathetic!

anyway, you look beautiful, the asos coat is amazing!

  27. great trench coat!

  28. And you didn’t see that as a challenge, Shini? Not even one stolen shot, the camera well concealed in your bag?

It’s weird: for the life of me I can’t remember who invited me to this show – I remember looking at the site about it.. well I’ll just have to go, that’s all there is to it.

I love this look on you. That ASOS trench is seriously stunning: is it yours? To keep? And those tangerine trousers, a gift from Nadia – is there a story? There must be a story.

  29. I love this outfit so much – the colours! the trousers! The knotted belt! Perfect x

  30. You look adorable, like a cute detective lady from the 40’s.
Wish I was there to see the exhibition… The belt detail is really cool, I have one just like that and never figured out exactly how to manage it cause it’s so long. Great!

  31. Edward

  44. you look perfect!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  45. I haven’t even had the time to venture down to the exhibition but will go as soon as one of my coursework deadlines are up.

I remember asking the pr lady before the exhibititon permission to take pictures and it was a resounding no, but she was happy to give me pics they had taken, but its so not the same!

ith the masiso martin margiela exhibition at somerset house I couldn’t enjoy the pieces at all because no photographs permitted, oh well at least this is the reminder to bring my sketchbook.

  46. what a fantastic outfit! i’d like especially the trousers, shoes and the belt:)
    Shini you’re just amazing:))

  53. I like the whole colour-scheme you’ve got going on, Shin! Oh and btw, that Sony camera is supposed to be really really good (I’m sure you’ve noticed that by now), in fact, I almost bought it myself but decided to get the Olympus PEN in stead… No regrets though, really good camera as well! :)

  54. I love the crispness of this: the quality of the photographs, the neatly pressed trousers, the smooth lines of the coat. It’s just lovely.
