23rd February 2012

Mary Katrantzou AW12 Catwalk photos from Vogue.com Mary Katrantzou AW12 LFW Courtesy of Vitamin Water Seeing as the writing in this blog is essentially ‘scribbles’ compared to the likes of Vogue’s Sarah Mower or my new pen crush Sophie Dening, I can’t deny that the research behind any given post also generally run along the lines of typing in Google ‘exciting angles to write a blog post on glitter shoes without sounding like a mad woman‘… and oddly somehow I always end up watching that one sneezing panda video on Youtube. This time though it was an uncharacteristically intense session of shovelling through articles about the design phenomenon that is Mary Katrantzou, each time finding myself more baffled at how brilliantly one can bring together schools of thought into one fashion collection. In fact, at one point the ‘research’ wasn’t so unlike an episode of CSI, not exactly in finding a speck of [...]

Utilitarian Urban Unique
19th February 2012

Topshop AW12 Old Billingsgate Market, London Fashion Week I can’t highlight enough how admirable Topshop is when it comes to spatial arrangement – seated in the first row or standing in the back the view is simply spectacular. Thankfully there’s also none of that courteous yet begrudging ‘nod’ to online media so popular in other shows that help fill the space near the walls but eventually fill the blogosphere with badly taken photos of model’s scalps. Topshop Unique truly is one of my most anticipated shows at LFW, not just because time and time again they being the frothiest milkshake that naturally pull the boys and buoys, but because they seem to give a lot of effort to show respect to all individuals of media. Well, I’ll stop there before I start taking the butt-kissing to second base, but you get my drift. The collection was spot-on and right up my [...]

Day Two: Jak & Bucketspill
19th February 2012

Leather Jacket & grey top – Day Birger et Mikkelsen, Trousers – ASOS, Shoes – Topshop, Bag – Warehouse, Rings – Daisy London, White Top – Diana Orving; Thank you Jen for the outfit snaps! Never in the history of fashion (or mankind in fact, during PG hours at least) has ‘I’m so wet’ been used so loosely as today. You could hear It’s not London if there’s no rain being tossed around the courtyard matter-of-factly, but hi, I’ve been living in London for the past 5 years and I can tell you it rarely rains like this. It’s like all the bottled up pissin’ rainin finally blew up in the form of a bucket dump, subjecting us of all to a very bad case of sky PMS. So as streetstyle I logged a record-breaking number of photos of hunched miserable looking folk (I’m thinking of JAK & ILL) so we just [...]

Day One
18th February 2012

LFW AW12 Day 1 Outfit: Coat – Anywho x Brics, Sweater – YesStyle, Jeans – Levi’s, Shoes – Alexandre Birman (Browns); Thank you Carrie for helping with the outfit shots! The stick is passed on, player London runs for dear life, player NYC descends from 4inch heels and towels off on the bleachers. Well… not exactly, key players are continuously running this marathon, hey? A bit of Olympics spirit there or what have ya. No matter how much I want to avoid speaking of the impending doom come July it seems like it’ll be the next most popular British whine, the ‘snow’ of the summer – it’s beautiful, but my goodness, does it break the city in half. At least the weather is quite toasty this LFW, alas snow and cobblestones does not a good fashion week make. The first day is always a bit of a buzz of UK [...]

Hugo AW12
18th January 2012

Images taken from Hugo Boss blog womenswear fitting post; Graphics by Park & Cube Just a small shoutout to let you know the Hugo Boss AW12 show will be streamed live on their official blog on January 19, 2012, at 01:30 p.m. (CET); during the show there will be a sweepstake on their Facebook. Despite this being a sponsored post and all (sell-out, who me?), I had a looksie at some of the fitting images on their blog and actually quite looking forward to the show. Clean-cut lines, polished metal and candy colours, sign me up anytime. I’m packing – not to Berlin, sadly – but to Florence once again, so I will be joining in viewing through the hotel’s frail wi-fi connection overlooking the Arno river while chucking breakfast gelato cone at seagulls. Bis bald! Apologies for the uncharacteristically commercial nature of the post, I’m trying out different sponsored campaign methods and would [...]
