Oh Ro,
20th February 2010

Screenshot from SHOWstudio Rodarte On-demand footage, Catwalk photos from Style.com “Florals? For Spring? Groundbreaking.” - Miranda Priestly (The Devil Wears Prada 2006) But this is florals for winter, it’s definitely rebellious, if not groundbreaking. And sheer white leggings and dresses, all weighed down of course by heavy yarn collages and sheepskin jackets. Oh set aside whatever inspired this ethereal collection (sleepwalking), the bravery to bring out SS fabrics onto an AW runway, and making it work so agreeably, is so admirable. They all say this collection lacked the usual badass factor of Rodarte, but in my opinion this rebellion is their best form of badass yet. Black? For Winter? Groundbreaking, I’d like to just say.

Sticks and stones: DIY Bugle Necklace
20th August 2009

So a wizard tells me that she’d personally include something organic between the geometric structure and what will I do, disobey the wizard? Pfft, absolutely not. So this is my second attempt, I do realise the rocks look like massive chewed gum in the photos but that was as organic looking as I could go, with the limited choice and all. The irregular shape of the rock made it quite hard to form a geometric structure around it and the weight kept unbalancing the whole damn thing – in the end I came out with something completely different from what I’d planned. So again, mucho respect to jewellery makers, you guys rock; no pun intended.

Very Handsome
11th August 2009

Leather and links – Topshop   EQUESTRIAN Riding boots – ebay ‘Copy of an Imitation’ Some directions I might want to take for autumn. Besides the fact that I can never spell equestrian… equistereanne… ekestryan (there) right, I’m hooked on it. I’ve been scouring ebay for a good pair of riding boots, and on finding it also fulfilled the need for knee-high boots (need, since when do we need all the shoes we covet). So now I’m guessing I need a horse, which category on ebay can one purchase a horse, preferrably one with an engine? This may be old news to some, but I’m still fascinated by Kathrin Rohr’s and Saskia Hammen’s Copy of an Imitation collection. There’s air of medieval, Tristan & Isolde to the designs, but with delicious modern twists – I do wish they were available physically somewhere so that I can lurk from a close [...]

Fw: Three is a crowd
29th July 2009

Fascinating how easily a stack of equilateral triangles can finish off and upgrade an outfit. Learn how to create a geometric necklace from a basic apparatus – tutorial by the ever-cute Dynce from Superwowomg. (Check out her blog for more great DIYs!) Love how there’s so many ways your own creativity can trickle in while joining up those polygons. Visit Anywho.dk for Elise’s tutorial on how to upgrade shoulderpads to royalty. I was actually very surprised how professional these looked – the choice of having varied texture and shape adds a touch of sophistication to the project. Those Danish girls definitely know how to spice things up, adore their blog for exactly that reason. Take a hint, Luxirare is the baddest fashion blogger-designer out there. Her blog is full of her own master creations, leaking inspiration from every seam, and her COOKING. I’ve never seen such a happily-ever-after marriage between [...]

DIY Inspirations
13th June 2009

The latest Chanel ad: Embellishing the arm and pockets of a jacket with pearl beads, chains, ribbons. Swap chains for laces on your heels. (Topshop heels) Embellish shoulderpads, sew onto black tshirt – I’d personally use fabric to cover the shoulder pads just so it doesn’t look like my jacket pooped shoulderpads right on my tshirt. (Pair patterend leggings with patterend tights.) Chain lining on sweater vest. All scans from Vogue UK June 2009
