Vintage is vintage is vintage
24th September 2009

Some of my favourite items from Oh Leoluca Vintage Etsy Store I remember how just over a year ago everyone treated vintage holier than new clothes and rushed off to local charity stores or antique markets to score a ‘unique’ piece. Our mothers’ wardrobes suffered sudden attention and lost significant weight as the meat got distributed to our own closets. “It’s vintage” used to be quite a defensive yet powerful answer to a where did you get your ____ from question because you really meant hah, you won’t ever find anything like this. But now it’s ubiquitous. Ironically, highstreet stores have even started to manufacture new clothes in the shape of the vintage clothes, and what do we see in the streets? Teenage mutant grandmothers. Nowadays it’s hard to find a one-of-a-kind piece without having to go through piles of clothes that were mass manufactured years ago as a part of trend [...]

I’m sorry, Summer’s not here yet, may I take a message?
17th June 2009

Recent adoptions, soon new to the family Asymmetrical Shirt & T-shirt, Zipper vest, Statement necklace | all from Gmarket (Gmarket Tutorials here) Summer is definitely not here yet in London, I’m sitting here with my hoodie hood over my head and feeling the need for an extra pair of gloves. Alright it’s not that cold, but it’s not blazin hot like summer that’s what I’m trying to say. On one hand I can still layer as much as I want to, and layering is probably the only reason I wish we can fast-forward the months of June, July and August – but on the other hand you, stuck in a normal midsummer’s eve, will look at me and sweat from the eyeballs. Also, is it just me or is everyone else feeling that the blogging world has been sluggish these past few months? I no longer find myself cautiously opening [...]

Time to chat up strangers
9th June 2009

Images from Nikicio & Nikicio Facebook Volume 4, last pic from One and a Half Tell me you’ve heard of NIKICIO of Singapore, because this is not a quick post to redeem myself from the tiny pause in updates, this is a post to pop open the bubbly and shoot rainbow fireworks at eachother. So you say their clothes are ‘simple’ and all that, so why all the hype? By now you all know I’m a cheap bastard, and I won’t ask for your precious attention if the prices are way too high. So for example, the zipper pants in the last picture is, wait for it, cuppa tea, drumroll, $30! That maxi dress and kitty clutch are calling my name, I’d love to carry a real kitty in there but that’s just me. I love the brand’s attitude and concept: “clothes that outlast trends, and are cohesive or sensible“. [...]
