The skin I live in
18th March 2013

Warning: above photo paints a ridiculously ‘clean’ picture of situation… infuriating actually. Welcome to chapter eleven of Help! My cat ate my keyboard: 1,001 Fashion Blogger Excuses. In previous chapters we covered: ‘My husband is taking blurry outfit pictures because he wasn’t fed’, ‘I’m in a different country and forgot to pack my blogging PJs’, ‘I have a life, I bought it at the pharmacy’, and most recently, ‘I lost confidence in blogging and un-grew balls that help with charging on’. This one is called ‘Eczema: wrestling with Wolverine‘. It was a few weeks back when I noticed a small dry patch on my arm – usual stuff, but what at first started as niggling irritation gradually developed into a violent itch, and next thing I knew it had flared up to my face, neck and torso. I know my body’s a bit of an attention wh*re, but this was truly something [...]

Sea in a drop: Acqua for Life
12th April 2012

A collection of images A water-themed patchwork : Acqua for life Above is a collection of images from previous blogposts and other sources (sources linked – photos 2,3,6,10), to highlight the Giorgio Armani Acqua for Life water awareness campaign If I’m visiting a new city the first thing I’ll Google once connected to the hotel wifi is ‘can you drink tap water in [insert city]‘, then sometimes I’ll double-check with ‘but are you suuuuure‘ and Google will ask me ‘are you suuuuure you’re wearing the right size bra?’. Just about drops the issue every time. However, the question whether tapwater is drinkable in Warsaw… still not answered after 16 years. The hubby who looked over my shoulder to read this just said ‘yeah, you wouldn’t die, but I honestly wouldn’t’. Growing up in Warsaw, thirty 5-litre bottles would be delivered every other month and the biggest chore for me and my brother was to carry [...]

Significant Other
13th November 2011

Dress by Amanda Wakeley; shoes from McQueen After 6 years of being together since highschool, the Significant Other and I tied the knot on the 24th of September in an orangery in Warsaw with a small group of close family and friends. Mrs Significant Other… I’m still having difficulty getting my head around that new title, and really should stop introducing my new-husband as my boyfriend. Months before the wedding we both took a day-trip up to Bicester Village and dug at the rails in quest of eachother’s garms, and we stumbled upon a beautiful white Amanda Wakeley dress that had a 90% knock-down, and a Boss suit for him and that was that. We loved that we were making it our own wedding, no frills – literally! Finding a photographer proved most challenging though – after cringing sessions of Googling ‘Wedding Photographers’, we thought we’d have to install CCTV at the [...]

JAPAN-QUAKE/
Birthpains
12th March 2011

Edit on Photo from The Atlantic I hope you don’t mind if I pause the fashion tape for a moment and ask for your attention to the earthquake and tsunami in Japan. I know you’re hearing it from everywhere, but I’m rather glad for that because this ain’t no Celine handbag plastered on every other blog/website/whathaveyou. This is a rug, yanked from under people’s feet and then confiscated and shredded. Please help in any way possible, be it in form of a prayer, donation or even physical help. And if you’re asking how’s a prayer going to help – God heals and restores, what more can anyone ask for when everything’s broken?

Merry
26th December 2010

It’s already the wee hours of Boxing Day here in Poland (is that the day boxes were born in a barn? I KID. Goodness, you must think I have a take on everything), but I still wanted to wish you a very warm and happy Christmas ! Food for thought: It’s only natural that we celebrate the birth of an individual only if his/her story of life and death were worth remembering. So for Christians it may be encouraging to read the Easter message on Christmas to remind ourselves of why the birth of Christ. And perhaps for those unsure of the faith, it might be worth investigating the life & death (and resurrection) of Jesus before entirely dismissing the birth story as a fantasy or an exaggerated tale.
