And chipmunk alert

(Would you just look at that holding frame, DERP written all over) Wearing: Top – Marc Jacobs. Trousers – Iris & Ink at The Outnet. Shoes – Christian Louboutin

One other thing I generally suck at: speaking. Case in point, see above. And you’d think since it’s one thing you do everyday you get better at it, like walking – in fact, one sucks at walking too. IT’S JUST DIFFICULT OKAY. Scarily, my skills in public speech (or lack thereof) has always been a deal-breaker/maker of almost every junction in life, starting with my English IB orals in high school that single-handedly reduced mighty dreams of Modern History at Oxbridge to colouring at artschool (fun fact: CSM’s IB requirement is 26, which is basically the lowest ‘pass’ point in IB) (of course, one requires a killer portfolio and generally must appear mad-for-art to qualify). If I remember correctly there was a bit of Eminem’s Stan (ft. Dido) lyrics snuck into a Macbeth passage interpretation. Examiner clearly had no sense of humour, or swag, yo. Fast forward to late 2012, I take the exact same bag of skills to the Outnet shoot, fully expecting my character to be killed off in the pilot. What you’re seeing here is hours of painstaking editing, separating of the sane and insane moments, and sewing them seamlessly all together, all courtesy of the video wizards; and let’s not forget Ciara the lovely makeup artist, who eventually had to muster up a pot of peach-coloured acrylic paint to cover up a very scarlet face. So I do realize this is like admitting hey I’m kinda hot after someone’s photoshopped my head onto Jessica Alba’s body, but I quite like how it turned out! Plus, the shop edit they put together for me has rather awesome pieces that makes me look like I belong in Tommy Ton/Nam’s streetstyle snaps. It’s all good fantasizing fun.

That blouse is a killer, you definitely can’t do wrong with dots.

Btw, your voice was completely different from what I was expecting.

  6. I’ve actually already seen this video while typing your blog’s name on Youtube as I was curious to know more about you. I like watching videos of bloggers because the feeling I get while I am looking at them helps me figure out who you are. Obviously, I meant knowing you as far as the internet enables us.
Being in front of a camera is nothing easy, it’s not a photo for your blog you can choose if you look well or not or if it is aesthetically interesting. In front of a camera you move, I won’t learn anything to anybody saying this, but it’s a BIG change.

This said I really appreciated the video and don’t worry you speak as well as you write !
Your Marc Jacobs top is very unique and these Louboutin are really gorgeous.

  31. I think you did better than what I would have done! I suck at speaking irl and I know I suck even more in front of a camera, which I sometimes feel sad about because I really would like to get in the whole YouTube-thingy. But I often stutter and my sentences are grammatically wrong most times – I call it speech dyslexia. I feel like people would concentrate more on my speech than on what I’m actually trying to say.

SHINI! Never bothered commenting before but just wanted to say your blog is amazing, aesthetically beautiful, and it’s so much more than just ‘outfit shots’. ALSO – the fact that you were in IB, I have my English Orals next week and as you can see, I BE procrastinating…

Don’t know if you read these but keep posting, you’re creating beautiful images and everything you do is just such high quality. Visiting your blog is such an enjoyable process. I know you’ll be able to find creative and economically sustainable ways to keep doing this (that Chloe campaign WAS SO GOOD).

You said that you sucked at speaking, but it doesn’t seem so once you talk about what you’re really into! I thought I would hear a lovely British accent from you, but yours turn out to be quite American, with the ‘r’ sound.

  72. omg after years of reading your blog, I realize this is the first time I’ve ever heard you speak. *___* At least IB provided some public speech training. I wimped away from IB and now my speaking skills are close to zero (not that I regret not being in IB because it would’ve killed me). And I had a job interview today, haaaah.

I really like hearing about your style. Other fashion people do unrealistic things like working an outfit around a pair of statement heels. Not everyone owns a pair of Rodarte! But anyway, this post was fun (and funny) to read, as always! And you do not suck at speaking.
