I've moved on...
...to a different domain. Why, what were you thinking? The truth is, I just woke up one day and decided it's time for a change—a metamorphosis, if you will; or, in layman's terms, if Britney can shave her head, then maybe so can I? Nevertheless, it's been a rather handsome 10 years of talking to you, and thank you for putting up with all my moodswings and terrible dad jokes. Fear not! The hormonal imbalance and jokes are more terrible on CUBICLE, see you there.

A certain Linda Evangelista might say, I don’t get out of bed for less than a bowl of phô and a perspiring glass of sweet Vietnamese ice coffee. In fact, let me go put this in my Advertise page – set me up with phô for the rest of the year and my blog is YOURS, basically. A few years ago I used to travel all the way across town from West London to Kingsland Road to get a fix of what I can only describe as, the ultimate comfort food; of course, the journey would take over an hour with collateral loss of other major comfort factors. But what can I say, this is the kind of logic I live with, if I had a tail I’d chase it, par example. Viet Grill (58 Kingsland Road) is our preferred den, with its (dareIsay) chic Martinique-d walls, sunflower table-deco and too-cool-for-school waiters, but should you find yourself at the bottom of that road one evening out in Shoreditch, there are countless options that will do the job. Or try this, if you’re blessed with whatever coloured thumb that allows for conjuring ultimate comfort in the comfort in your own home. You superior being, you.

  15. I loveee my mom’s pho. I rarely eat pho at Viet restaurants as I prefer other Viet dishes. You should try “hu tieu my tho” next time you’re out. : )

On another note, LOVE the bag. I have the Kirsten as well, but in satchel form.

  16. Luckiest EVER!

  17. You photograph food so beautifully! I mean, wow! I’ve probably said that before already. I love pho and you make it look so elegant! I just had both pho and vietnamese coffee the other day and now I’m wanting it again!

  22. ZOMG regretting the push back of vietnamese to next week now! >.<

I haven't had vietnamese in what feels like a really long time – probably since I moved away from Kingsland Road town – but you can still manage it so i should too.

Beautiful photos that now have me craving beansprouts for breakfast…

  23. I’m craving it SO MUCH now. You’re still in Kinglsand Rd town mizz charley, get your butt on a bus let’s go

  24. Oh, I love the BBQ pork loin with bun!
Okura and Aubergine curry is also very nice as well though.

  26. @Shini, I’ll be in Japan from tomorrow but definitely have it soon!

  27. The food looks amazing and the photos make it look heavenly.

  28. Shini!! I love your Kusama inspired nails. I can’t really go without pho for over a month, but sadly in the London it’s a journey for me as well to source them out and actually make the effort to go, and like you said, the journey has certain collateral losses that I can’t afford. I didn’t know you were living in West too? Was that what you meant? Btw, I’ve posted up my new shoe fetish purchase (kinky huh), tell me what you think ;)

  29. I love Vietnamese cuisine, definitely with this weather London is treating us with. And yo uare right, Viet Grill do it righ (very tempting as it is just around my corner!)

Mhmm Pho!! Also mega craving the Alexander Wang bag!!!!

  31. I stop Vietnamese restaurant once a week in order to get an iced coffee treat! I’ve never had Pho since I don’t eat meat but it seems like such a comforting thing that I kind of want to try some.

Your photos are stunning and I have to admit that if I lived in London I’d go to that restaurant regularly for the interior alone.

  32. You look great! Stunning bag!

  33. Aww, pho! I like it and it always reminds me of my hometown, love the taste of this delicious dish.
    xx

  34. Oh that looks so delicious!

  35. Kiiyha

Think I just saw you at vietnamese on theobaldi’s road near holborn?! x

  36. Ohh yes that was me!

  37. I feel you. At IFB, we go have a bowl of pho every Friday, we call it #PhoFriday. When I don’t have it, I crave it, it’s like some drug or something!

Anyway if you ever come to New York, you should come have pho with us!

  38. Your pictures are always so amazing! That ice coffee looks so great I would love to have one right now.

  39. Great photos, especially the first one!!

  40. Love the first picture! Great post :)

    xx.

  41. And here I was, going all the way from New Cross to Cay Tre in Soho. I think it’s just a foregone conclusion that people will travel well over 1 hour for quality pho. (I no longer live in London but will have to try Viet Grill the next time I’m in town).

  42. Pho is the ultimate comfort food in my household, especially on chilly days. Now that fall is here and winter is just next season, I am so going to indulge myself in plenty of pho.

Speaking of fall, you have an art in layering. I love your layering of prints and textures.

  43. wow i love your photographs =) the combination of the awesome colours of your food and your nails especially… and love your bag and shoes!

    http://www.littleredbook-thatshaute.blogspot.com

  57. Hi,

Just want you know that it’s spelled as PHỞ – not PHÔ

  58. Thanks, yah that’s the Vietnamese spelling but in London they spell it with the O with the cap for western pronounciation. :)

  59. Amy

Pho. I miss pho. If anyone knows of a good place in MIlano, do let me know.

  60. Nom Nom, the Pho look so good. I really want a big bowl right now. I’m a big fan of your skirt. Also I wish I could have that Wang bag.

  61. Kim

Your food pics are awesome as well as your outfit <3
Btw its Phở, not Phô =D

  62. Ohh I know, but thank you for the heads-up! In London they use ô just so that the non-Vietnameese speakers know how to pronounce better – I wouldn’t even know how to pronounce ở! x

  63. Oh, I remembered this place immediately when I saw the second photo! I went there with my Dad the first day I arrived in London as we wanted to find a Vietnamese grocery shop. haha The food is really nice and authentic like most Vietnamese places in Shoreditch! I simply love it. But nothing’s better than my Mum’s pho! ;)

    xx
